Kyiv IT Cluster Took Part In Meeting With Canada’s Innovation Superclusters
Keeping up with the trends in international cluster cooperation
The meeting within EU Cluster Weeks took place on 1st and 2nd April, during the Hannover Fair. The aim of the event was to highlight the importance of the role that clusters play in internalization of SMEs, with a particular focus on cooperation between European and Canadian clusters and superclusters. The event was organized by the Directorate General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs of European Commission (DG GROWTH).
There were 10 participants from Canada at the meeting, including the Senior Executives of the 5 Canadian Superclusters, 30 managers of European clusters from 15 countries, as well as other cluster stakeholders. The Canadian Superclusters were presented by Jennifer Miller, Director General for Innovation Superclusters Initiative at the Innovation, Science and Economic Development Ministry of Canada: Advanced Manufacturing Supercluster, Artificial Intellingence Supply Chain Supercluster (SCALE AI), Digital Technology Supercluster, Ocean Supercluster and Protein Industries Supercluster. She presented the Initiative, launched by the Canadian Government with a total investment of 950 mln Canadian dollars (around $715 mln) to boost the country’s innovation and economic development over a period of 5 years.
The success of the Innovation Superclusters Initiative has made Canada a priority country for cooperation in the eyes of the European community. After the presentations all the participants had a chance to take part in matchmaking and thematic round table discussions, in order to learn more about each other and to create a basis for future partnerships.
